Today is the day of packing and moving. My parents in law are moving into our place. Moving is always fun, NOT!

We fly out on Tuesday – I’m super excited, but also sad at the same time as I will miss everyone like CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!

Will b in touch as much as we can – our itinerary is not yet set in stone, and who knows where we’ll end up. Also not too sure when we’ll be back, so stay tuned….

4 years later and I feel like a completely different person. Reading my older blogs, it was definitely me, but feels somewhat surreal now. Like when you listen to yourself on the answering machine. You know it’s you, but… do I really sound like that? Well that’s what these blogs were like – I know it’s me, but was I really THAT obsessed with soccer?!?! Maybe I was. But it was just what I needed to get through that phase of my life. I made some amazing friends, played some super fun games, and learnt a lot about myself. Some of those girls I still keep in touch with, and even though I dont see them often now, I always remember our fun times with a smile.

So over the past 4 years I have changed jobs twice, gotten married, bought a house, and been through some very tough times that I’ll write about when I feel ready to. All in all a pretty good effort I say! I still have the travel bug though – but alas.. something I am definitely working on!

I am working as an IT Consultant and am LOVING the variety. Given my history – moving from IT support, to programming to business analysis. You might say I’m a serial generalist! At the moment, I just feel there’s so many different areas of IT to learn, why not try them all before deciding to dive and specialise in just one field – or really, why do I need to choose at all? Ugh.. a current dilemma I’m facing. I do really enjoy analysis though

Moving away from career, as that is just one aspect of ME. I now have a significant other – my super awesome fantastical husband Pete. It was our 3 year anniversary this year – on the 5th of August And we have now surpassed our 1 year wedding anniversary (which was one of the best weddings on the planet might I say – not that I’m biased in the slightest!). He is my perfect best friend. He has been there for me, and I trust him with every ounce of my being. Being without him even a moment makes Kitti sad and want to write in 3rd person! All jokes aside, I would not be as strong and happy with my life if I didnt have him by my side, lol-ing at my jokes even when only I find them funny.

Onto breaking news, our two boys – Roger and Frank. How I LOVE THEM! So so so so so so much. My furry babies. We have found them new homes. The most perfect home I couldn’t even have dreamt up if I tried! They are moving to a wonderful loving family – with a new playmate to slober over and even kids to play with! I am so happy that their quality of life will be so much richer. And so depressed and sad for myself that I will miss them! They are getting picked up this Sunday, so I think I will need lots of chocolate and cuddles next week!

Then realisation is that Yes you’ve missed the turn. Yes the signs were very small. Yes the sun is right up there. Yes it’s peak hour traffic. Today? The game’s on today. You? You bought the tickets and wanted to go. This familiar inanimate object I stumbled across did happen to be the story bridge at which point I knew it was time to admit I was lost. I’ve driven across the bridge several times, but usually in the opposite direction going home! Ok so figuring I was well on my way to heading into the city, brain quickly thought.. “Go to a quiet side street, call your friend, and figure out how to get the hell outta here”.

Finding a quiet side street in the city isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be! Using “the force” I took the first left off the bridge and the first left off that street. But then magic happened, I recognised the area I was in. Could this be? Could I actually have somewhat familiarised myself with the city? So turning into the first parking lot I found, I rang my friend and arranged to meet him at the train station. Which lead me to my next issue (among many others! But lets not go there ), where on earth is the train station from my current location.

Again, using “the force” I started walking. Lucky for me straight away I found a street very familiar, so soon enough I made it to the train station. My what an adventure it was. Me, not being overly familiar with the city, let alone driving by myself in it, did find it empowering in a way, that although the night could’ve turned out a lot worse (images of me driving around the city until I run out of petrol and getting attacked by some psycho sprung to mind), it all turned out ok in the end.

What about the ROAR game you might ask? Well we got our but kicked… again! But was a pretty good game to watch – even though I froze my butt off because I left my jumper in the car! Just another thing that made the night all the more memorable! hehe.

I just got home from what I thought was a great game. My team LFC played my friends team Doughnut, and it was a battle to the end which was won by the grade 1 team – D. Ok so we didn’t win, big deal. We just played a team 3 divisions higher then us, and we put up a hell of a fight in the process. I particularly enjoyed myself playing my mate. We always joked at work about playing eachother, and it was soo cool to actually have the chance to do it! I know my teammates feel disappointed now, but they’ll get over it. Realistically, we can’t be too surprised at the loss but proud of how we played. Beating ourselves up over it won’t change anything, time to focus on next weekend instead.

Which kinda leads me to my next issue that really bugs me – criticising eachother or other teams, as well as people that think they’re all that and a pack of potato chips – when clearly they’re not. Ok so maybe there isn’t a clear connection, but I’ve been meaning to write about it so bear with me.   

My first beef – criticising. One question, what’s the point? Talking about another team negatively before a match isn’t going to make us play harder, or help our mental state of mind.  From what I’ve noticed, all it does is freak out some players and make them approach the game thinking “shit shit shit”. Not beneficial last time I checked. Especially when you’re friends with people on the team being criticised by your own teammates. Doesn’t give you a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Actually quite infuriating, but then you’re caught in the middle because you don’t want to cause tension among your team, but you want to rip their eyes out for insulting your friends. Dilemma dilemma dilemma!

Second beef – “You’re all that! NOT!” What is it with players that think they’re the bees knees when they come to playing and everyone else is below them? Reality check! We’re playing for fun.. or doesn’t that part really matter anymore? Being competitive is fine but looking down on others and vocalising it is not cool!

Now it’s time to look forward to today’s match – my mixed team LFC are playing a grade 1 team named Doughnut. I’ve been looking forward to playing this team for a while, as one of my workmates, a guy I look up to as a player, is lead striker. What will happen? Will we win? Tune in next time to find out

Ok so I went and saw Jackass 2 last night, and the first thought that springs to mind is WHY? Why would anyone want to inflict such pain, or perform such vile acts for the amusement of others? The fame? The money? Or just for a laugh? I’m guessing more than likely all of the above. But as they did these stunts, I must admit it was hard to look away. As much as I cringed and started feeling sick to my stomach, my curiosity got the better of me

Career wise I’m sailing along, or is keeping my head above the water more appropriate? Nah I shouldn’t be too hard on myself, but I just can’t help myself. What can I say? I was never one of those kids growing up who knew exactly what they wanted to do and the direction their life was heading. I was always a bit uncertain, and with so many things that interested me I just couldn’t choose! Then I thought I did, coming into my final year of High School, I decided I was going to study law, and be the best Barrister this country’s ever seen. Yep I like thinking big! Hence the whole superstar rocker, but that story’s for another day! So anyway, after choosing subjects that would assist in moulding me into the perfect lawyer, and even doing work experience at a law firm, that wasn’t enough to keep me passionate. Weeks before applying for university courses, after a chance meeting with a friend of the family – currently a project manager – I just knew I had to give IT a try. So here I am, after 4 years of uni with a Honours degree in my hand, I’m working as a programmer.

Lets be honest, doing a degree in IT with no previous experience with computers was no picnic. There were several times I wanted to just give up and choose something else. At one point, I was so fed up that I even handed in my forms to change to Medicine – a dentist of all things. That dream abruptly ended when I had a reality check and realised medicine was not for me. 1. Can’t stand blood. 2. Would get too emotionally attached – heart broken if something went wrong. Would never be able to forgive myself. So as you can see, I figured with computers, there’s not a high chance of causing harm to others. Unless overcharging them for tolls counts?? So back to IT I went. Not only did I finish my degree, but from the first year onwards I started getting better, and actually ended up enjoying myself.

Call me whacky but I get off on a sense of accomplishment when you develop something from scratch, and it ACTUALLY WORKS! woo hoo. But all throughout my uni years, I must admit programming was a bit scary for me. Going from, how do i print a line? to working as a programmer as a living scared the hell out of me. So when taking up my current job, as you can imagine I was nervous. Okay pertrified! But after a year of IT support, I knew I had to change my life or I’d never be happy.

When the guys took me on as the only girl and youngest programmer on the team, I was nervous. I didnt know what they expected of me. I was very upfront and honest in the interview, but still felt like alright this is it Kitty, sink or swim. With the patience and help from my teammates I am now the girl that stands before you. Okay not literally but it sounds good, you know what I mean And now, working on a development project and being a part of developing a system, wow I never would’ve thought. But I’m very happy, and knowing my parents are proud of all I’ve achieved makes it all worthwhile!

Oh My God! My teams rock! We won the final yesterday!!! So we were given wicked jugs as “trophies”. So cool! Taking those puppies to work today to show them off I’m so proud of all my teams. We did sooooo well. We’re even more determined to kick butt next season!! The other teams wont know what hit them!
